The CEC #485+ Carbon Fork represents technical excellence for bikepacking, ultra-distance and off-road adventure. Developed by Pierre-Arnaud Le Magnan, founder of Carbon Endurance Component with over 35 years of experience in carbon fiber, this 485 mm rigid fork combines light weight, robustness and extreme versatility. Designed for adventure frames like the Chiru Kegeti and Divider, it offers generous 29 x 2.8" clearance, a featherweight of 690 grams and a load capacity of 3 kg per side thanks to its multiple mounting points. The perfect compromise between performance and reliability for long-distance expeditions.
Technical Highlights
- Optimized lightness and stiffness: UD T700 carbon construction with matte transparent varnish finish for a contained weight of 690 g while guaranteeing frontal and lateral rigidity where needed, without compromising vibration absorption on difficult terrain.
- Exceptional clearance for voluminous tires: Accepts 29 x 2.8" tires (or 27.5+ and 26 FAT equivalents), ideal for riding on trails, aggressive gravel, forest paths and loose terrain with complete confidence.
- Boost 110 x 15 mm thru-axle: Modern standard ensuring maximum rigidity, steering precision and compatibility with current hubs, for precise handling on descents as well as loaded climbs.
- Carrying capacity and versatility: 6 mounting points per leg (3 per side) each supporting 3 kg, allowing installation of anything cages, fork bags, front bottle cages or low-rider racks. Integrated fender and front light mounting points.
- Complete internal routing: Internal passage for disc brake hose (Post Mount 160 mm or Flat Mount) and dynamo hub cable, for clean aesthetics and optimal cable protection against mud, branches and weather.
- Modern tapered steerer: Tapered 1"1/8 - 1"1/2 steerer tube of 300 mm, 25 mm internal diameter, compatible with ZS56/44 semi-integrated headsets. 40 mm crown race (slotted only).
Geometry and Standards
With an axle-to-crown length of 485 mm and a 50-51 mm offset, the CEC #485+ offers stable and comfortable geometry, perfectly suited to titanium or steel adventure frames, as well as demanding gravel/monster cross builds. It advantageously replaces 100-120 mm suspension forks by offering significant weight savings (over 500 g saved compared to a classic steel fork) and bulletproof reliability over long distances. Certified ISO 4210-2:2015, it guarantees compliance with European safety standards for intensive use up to 100 kg rider weight.
Accessories and Premium Finish
Each CEC #485+ fork is delivered ready to install with a complete accessory package: titanium front thru-axle, Titanium M5x10 hardware for mounts, rubber caps for internal cable passages, steerer expander and aluminum top cap. The matte transparent varnish finish showcases the unidirectional carbon texture while offering durable protection against scratches and UV. Developed and tested during ultra-endurance races (Atlas Mountain Race, Transcontinental Race), this fork has proven its robustness in the most extreme conditions.
Compatibility and Installation
The CEC #485+ fork integrates perfectly with Chiru Kegeti (titanium adventure) and Chiru Divider (steel bikepacking) frames, but also any frame accepting a tapered steerer, Boost 110x15 axle and 29" clearance. Compatible with Post Mount 160 mm or Flat Mount 140/160 mm disc brakes depending on adapter. Internal dynamo routing allows USB light power or recharging electronic devices while riding, a major asset for self-supported multi-day expeditions.
