The CEC #820S Carbon/Dyneema handlebar represents a major innovation in the world of high-end MTB components. Designed for demanding All-Mountain and Enduro riders, this hybrid handlebar combines the performance of UD carbon with the exceptional resilience of Dyneema UHMWPE fiber. This unique combination offers controlled flex that filters micro-vibrations and significantly reduces muscle fatigue during technical descents and long, challenging rides. With a featherweight of 175 grams and a generous width of 820 mm, the #820S combines lightness, control, and comfort to push your limits in hostile terrain.

Dyneema technology: when textile fiber revolutionizes carbon

Dyneema fiber (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) is one of the strongest materials in the world: 15 times stronger than steel at equal weight, while being light enough to float on water. Unlike pure carbon which prioritizes stiffness, Dyneema provides exceptional ductility, superior impact resistance, and excellent vibration absorption. The carbon/Dyneema hybridization creates a unique composite that maintains the directional rigidity of carbon while adding natural damping of impacts and repeated micro-shocks. The white Dyneema fibers, interwoven with black carbon and CEC flocking, create an immediately recognizable visual signature.

Geometry optimized for modern enduro

  • 820 mm width: maximum control on descents, precise handling in technical sections, possibility to cut down to 760 mm to customize according to your morphology
  • 15 mm rise: slightly raised position that improves long-distance comfort and optimizes rider placement on varied terrain
  • 9° backsweep / 4° upsweep: ergonomic angles that naturally position the wrists in anatomical alignment, reducing muscle and joint tension
  • 31.8 mm clamp diameter: universal standard compatible with most modern stems, clamping width limited to 52 mm maximum

High-end construction and finishes

Developed by Pierre-Arnaud Le Magnan, founder of CEC and Chiru Bikes, the #820S benefits from over 35 years of expertise in carbon and advanced composite materials work. The manufacturing process incorporates a specific coating in the clamping zones (stem and brake levers) to ensure optimal grip without risk of slipping, even under high torque. The unidirectional carbon construction, strategically oriented, combines lateral rigidity for power transmission and vertical flex for absorption. The matte black CEC flocking elegantly contrasts with the exposed white Dyneema fibers, offering a technical and distinctive aesthetic.

On-trail performance: comfort and endurance

  • Vibration filtering: Dyneema absorbs high-frequency resonances generated by chaotic terrain (rock gardens, roots, choppy sections), thus preserving joints and reducing forearm fatigue
  • Progressive flex: during violent impacts (jump landings, frontal shocks), the Dyneema/carbon composite flexes slightly then returns the energy, creating a "crossbow" effect that energizes handling
  • Abrasion resistance: Dyneema naturally resists friction, UV, and humidity, ensuring increased durability even in extreme conditions
  • Minimal weight: with only 175 grams on the scale, the #820S positions itself among the lightest handlebars on the market, without compromising structural strength

Who is the CEC #820S for?

This handlebar is ideal for All-Mountain and Enduro riders seeking the best compromise between lightness, control, and long-distance comfort. Perfect for challenging multi-hour rides, multi-day expeditions, endurance competitions, and bikepacking adventures where reliability and fatigue reduction are paramount. Riders sensitive to vibrations, those riding on technical or rocky terrain, and all those seeking an alternative to traditional carbon handlebars that are too stiff will find what they need. Compatible with all standard 22.2 mm levers, grips, and accessories.

Installation and maintenance

The CEC #820S handlebar requires careful installation by strictly respecting the recommended torque specifications (available upon request or engraved on the stem). The textured clamping zones allow reliable grip without over-tightening. Cutting is possible down to a minimum of 760 mm using a specific carbon cutting tool (fine hacksaw or grinder with diamond disc), followed by gentle sanding of the edges to prevent fiber fraying. Always protect cutting zones with adhesive tape before sawing. Clean regularly with a soft cloth and soapy water, avoid aggressive solvents that could alter the epoxy resin.
