The Instinctiv Ocelot 135 Frameset embodies the excellence of next-generation lightweight electric mountain bikes. Designed and assembled in the Netherlands by the independent brand Instinctiv, this monocoque carbon frame with 135 mm of rear travel integrates the Swiss Maxon Bikedrive AIR S motor, a world reference in terms of lightness and power. With a complete frameset weighing only 7.5 kg (motor, 400 Wh battery, controller, cables and components included), the Ocelot 135 redefines the standards of high-performance and balanced electric mountain bikes.
An exclusive project born from Dutch passion
Founded in 2017 in Amsterdam, Instinctiv Bicycles BV has become known for its expertise in high-end carbon MTB and its patented PUMA suspension (multilink Horst). After shining with Pinion gearbox models, the brand is launching its first electric MTB range with the Ocelot, the result of more than 15 years of experience in demanding product engineering. All frames are assembled in-house in the Amsterdam workshop, the 3-layer bi-component coating is applied locally by hand in Europe. Limited and custom production guarantees impeccable quality.
Technical architecture and performance
- Ultra-lightweight monocoque carbon frame: Only 3.1 kg for the frame alone. Designed with 7% recycled carbon fibers from the German automotive industry, it combines structural rigidity and environmental responsibility.
- Maxon AIR S motor — Swiss cutting-edge technology: Manufactured in Switzerland by Maxon, specialist in compact motors for NASA, robotic surgery and F1, this motor weighing only 2 kg delivers 90 Nm of torque and 620 W peak power, with an efficiency of 85%. Exceptional power-to-weight ratio for a full-power system.
- Integrated battery and range: 400 Wh 1.8 kg lithium-ion battery fully integrated into the down tube, non-removable. An external 250 Wh range extender battery (1.6 kg) can be added to double the range on epic rides.
- Patented PUMA suspension: Multilink Horst system with vertical kinematics in the first half of the travel, offering optimal absorption in fast sections and constant anti-squat: 115% small chainring / 108% large chainring. Progressive and controlled rear wheel path for maximum grip.
- Shock and kinematics: All Ocelots use the same 185 x 55 mm Trunnion shock. Travel (125/135/145 mm) is adjusted by changing links, modifying leverage ratio and progressivity. Grade 10 double-row Enduro bearings and Max Ball with labyrinth seals guarantee reliability and smoothness.
Geometry and modern standards
- Three sizes MD / LG / XL: Reach from 460 to 500 mm, stack from 630 to 650 mm, for riders from 160 to 200 cm.
- 64.5° head angle, 77° effective seat angle on all sizes, short 445 mm chainstays: lively handling, precise climbing, downhill stability.
- Uniform 710 mm standover height, wheelbase from 1243 to 1287 mm depending on size.
- Dropper post compatibility: 150 mm on MD (e.g. Fox Transfer), 180 mm on LG and XL, seat tube interrupted by rear pivot.
