The Ridley Kanzo Adventure GRX600 1x12 embodies the purest spirit of adventure in modern gravel cycling. Designed to escape the beaten path and tackle the most demanding terrain, this Belgian bike combines MTB-inspired geometry, uncompromising versatility and the proven reliability of the Shimano GRX 600 12-speed groupset. Whether you're planning a day ride, a multi-day bikepacking trip or an ultra-distance event, the Kanzo Adventure is ready to follow you anywhere.
Two versions for all adventurers
Ridley offers the Kanzo Adventure in two versions suited to your ambitions and budget. The carbon variant (reference KAD) features a carbon HM 24-30T UD frame weighing between 1250 and 1360 g depending on size, paired with a carbon fork of 415 to 499 g. The complete bike weighs approximately 9 kg in size M, a remarkable performance for such a well-equipped adventure bike. The aluminum variant (reference KAV), named Kanzo Adventure Alu, retains all the features and award-winning geometry of the carbon version in a bombproof 7E8 aluminum frame, ready to withstand the harshest impacts. At approximately 11.1 kg total, it offers an exceptional durability/price ratio. Both versions share the same Forza Gravel Disc carbon fork with integrated dynamo routing and generous 54 mm clearance.
Kanzo Optimized Geometry (KOG)
Ridley has developed specific geometry for the Kanzo Adventure, called KOG (Kanzo Optimized Geometry), which breaks away from road gravel conventions. Inspired by MTB, it features a slacker head angle (approximately 70.5°), a lower bottom bracket, an extended wheelbase (up to 1041-1182 mm depending on sizes) and a steeper seat angle (74°). This architecture provides increased stability and total confidence on technical descents and rough terrain, while maintaining responsive handling thanks to short stems (80-100 mm). The reach is longer than on road gravel bikes (379-426 mm depending on sizes XS to XL), promoting an engaged and comfortable position over long distances, even with a full load.
Tire clearance and versatility
- Extreme compatibility: Clearance of 52 mm in single-chainring configuration (47 mm in double), equivalent to a 29x2.1" MTB tire or a 700x50c gravel tire. You can fit fast gravel tires (35-40 mm) for speed rides, or aggressive treads (45-53 mm) for technical MTB terrain.
- 700c wheels only: The frame is optimized for 700c wheels (not compatible with 650B according to the manufacturer).
- Tubeless Ready: DT Swiss G1800 Spline or Shimano RX180 wheels with 24 mm internal width rims, supplied with Vittoria Terreno Dry or T50 tires (700x45-50c) in Tubeless Ready version.
Shimano GRX 600 1x12 speed drivetrain
- Shimano GRX 600 groupset: 12-speed mechanical version, 105 level, specifically designed for gravel with ergonomics adapted to flared handlebars and anti-slip coating on the levers.
- Single chainring 40T or 42T: Shimano GRX 610 or 600 crankset with single 40 or 42-tooth chainring, crank lengths 165 to 175 mm.
- 10-45T cassette: Shimano SLX M7100 12-speed (Hyperglide+, Micro Spline body) offering a 450% range, ideal for steep ramps and long loaded climbs.
- GRX 800 rear derailleur: Medium cage (45T) with Shadow RD+ chain stabilizer to prevent chain drops on rough terrain.
- GRX hydraulic brakes: Flat Mount, 160 mm discs, exemplary power and modulation on all terrain.
18 mounting points: the bikepacker's bike
The Kanzo Adventure stands out for its exceptional versatility thanks to its 18 mounting points strategically distributed on the frame and fork. You can install additional bottle cages, frame bags, fenders, fork cargo cages (supporting up to 4 kg per side or 9 kg total with lowrider rack), or a tool kit under the down tube. The integrated dynamo routing allows you to power lighting for night riding during ultra races or long-distance touring. The frame is also equipped with the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), a universal standard that facilitates hanger replacement in case of breakage.
Equipment and finishes
- Gravel handlebar: 4ZA Stratos Gravel or Ritchey Butano II Comp, widths 400 to 480 mm, optimized for flared handlebars.
- Semi-integrated stem: Forza Stratos from 80 to 100 mm depending on sizes, for a clean cockpit.
- Seatpost: 4ZA Cirrus or Forza Stratos in 27.2 mm, length 350 mm, offset 0 or 15 mm depending on variant.

Performance and field reviews
Independent tests praise the exceptional handling of the Kanzo Adventure, its ability to absorb vibrations thanks to large tires and carbon, and its surprising agility despite the long wheelbase. The bike is as comfortable on technical singletrack as on long gravel or asphalt distances. The geometry inspires confidence on descents and offers excellent cornering control, while the position allows you to maintain a sustained cadence even on broken terrain. Some testers note a slightly more aggressive position than on other adventure gravel bikes, which favors fast and loaded rides, but may seem less relaxed for cyclists seeking a very upright posture. The Kanzo Adventure was voted "Best Adventure Gravel Bike" by Gran Fondo Cycling Magazine.
