The Ridley E-Grifn Gravel Apex XPLR AXS embodies the excellence of next-generation electric gravel: a high-performance, elegant, and versatile bike that pushes the boundaries between road and trails thanks to the discreet assistance of the Mahle X20 system. Designed for demanding cyclists looking for a bike capable of devouring kilometers on asphalt as well as gravel, this model combines a lightweight carbon frame, wireless electronic SRAM Apex XPLR AXS drivetrain, and ultra-efficient motorization for a natural and powerful riding experience.

Mahle X20 System: Revolutionary Assistance

The beating heart of the E-Grifn is the latest generation Mahle X20 system, an absolute reference in lightweight motorization for electric bikes. With its 1.39 kg rear hub motor delivering 65 Nm of torque and a peak power of 275 W, this system offers powerful and progressive assistance, ideal for tackling technical climbs or extending your long-distance rides. The integrated 350Wh battery (iX3) sits discreetly in the downtube, guaranteeing up to 140 km of range — extendable to over 200 km with the optional 171Wh range extender. The total weight of the electric system (motor, battery, sensors) does not exceed 3.2 kg, a technical feat that preserves the bike's agility. Beyond 25 km/h, the motor progressively deactivates without creating mechanical resistance, offering a smooth and natural pedaling experience, like on a traditional bike. Fast charging (80% in 2 hours, 100% in 3.5 hours) and control via the Mahle app allow you to customize the three assistance levels according to your preferences and terrain.

E-Grifn Frame: Elite Series Carbon and All-Road Versatility

The Elite series carbon E-Grifn frame shares the same geometry as the Grifn RS, a clever balance between road agility and gravel stability. With a reach of 391 mm and a stack of 587 mm in size M, a wheelbase of 1021 mm, and short chainstays of 420 mm, the E-Grifn is responsive on the road and reassuring on rough trails. Tire clearance reaches 42 mm in single-chainring configuration (38 mm in 2x), allowing the use of large-volume tires for optimal comfort on gravel or forest paths. The integration is refined: internal routing for cables and dynamo, fender mounts, hidden top tube mounting points and optimized bikepacking supports, universal UDH derailleur hanger. The frame is available in five sizes (XS to XL) with a total weight limit of 110 kg.

SRAM Apex XPLR AXS Drivetrain: Uncompromising Electronic

  • Complete SRAM Apex XPLR AXS 1x12 speed groupset: wireless electronic transmission, surgical precision shifting, reduced maintenance, and silent operation, even in extreme conditions.
  • SRAM Apex XPLR AXS rear derailleur: specially designed for gravel, compatible with large cassettes and the UDH hanger for maximum reliability.
  • SRAM XPLR PG-1231 11-44T cassette: wide gear range (11-44 teeth) for effortless climbing and sprinting on the flat, paired with the 42T single chainring of the SRAM Apex crankset (172 mm cranks).
  • Flat mount hydraulic brakes: exceptional power and modulation for total control, regardless of weather.

High-End Components and Finishes

  • 4ZA AllRoad full carbon fork: stiff, lightweight, with fender mounts and integrated dynamo routing (TA12x100).

Geometry and Available Sizes

The E-Grifn comes in five sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) covering a range of cyclists from approximately 156 cm to 195 cm. The all-road geometry favors a good balance between performance and comfort: 72° head angle (71.5° in XS), 73.5° seat angle (size M), bottom bracket drop of 73 mm for a low center of gravity and increased stability. The stack/reach ratio around 1.50 offers a sporty position without being too aggressive, ideal for racking up hours in the saddle.
